Metrobank exec ‘acted alone’ in P1.75B fraud

This bank executive is a line wolf for this grand scam.

The Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company (Metrobank) maintained that only its former vice president and corporate banking head Marivic Lopez was directly involved in the P1.75 billion internal fraud which authorities discovered in July 2017.

“After conducting a 100% audit, the bank reiterates that no customer was affected,” Metrobank said in a disclosure on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

“The perpetrator acted alone and for her sole benefit. She has been apprehended and cases against her have been filed.”

News reports said that Lopez was able to raise the funds by authorizing fake loans worth P30 million multiple times using the name of the Gokongweis’ Universal Robina Corp.

Did Lopez really raise the funds all for herself, or did she have other people to split it with?
