The purge: Lapeña’s one-strike rule gets 116 fired in Customs
It’s the end of the line for these government workers.
It appears that reforms installed by Commissioner Isidro Lapeña are making huge gains for the Bureau of Customs, although a few have been casualties.
Lapeña’s “one-strike” rule involving corrupt officials in the bureau has led to the dismissal of 116 personnel as of November 2017, including 10 district collectors.
Port collections have also soared to record highs, with November figures hitting P42 billion.
