Cebu Pacific, TIEZA sign deal to allow online payment of travel tax


Cebu Air Inc. has inked an agreement with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) to allow travel tax payment for online purchase of tickets.

Under the agreement, Cebu Pacific passengers have the option to pay for the travel tax on international flights of P1,620 when they book their flights.

While passengers who are exempt from the tax, or are eligible for reduced travel tax, on the other hand, can still book, pay an confirm their flights on Cebu Pacific, but they need to present valid tax exemption documents upon check-in.

“We thank TIEZA for working with us to come up with the guidelines that allowed the payment of travel through the Cebu Pacific booking channels. This would help ease the lines on on-site payment of travel tax and provide a hassle-free travel for passengers,” JR Mantaring, vice president for Corporate Affairs at Cebu Pacific said.

TIEZA is the primary agency , mandated by Republic Act No. 9593 or “The Tourism Act of 2009” responsible for the timely collection of travel taxes.
