Not so fast: DOF eyeing 70 lifestyle checks for BIR, Customs workers before yearend
Their happy, luxurious days may soon be over.
The Department of Finance would not be sitting pretty this December despite the holidays, as its Revenue Integrity Protection Service (RIPS) unit is looking to catch more crooks within their ranks.
The RIPS team bared plans of investigating 70 more employees of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) before yearend to weed out corruption in the agencies.
They are picking up leads from Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) reports by comparing annual salaries to assets acquired while in the service.
The RIPS forwards cases for further investigation and resolution to either the Office of the Ombudsman or the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
