Only 33 faceless P100 bills out in circulation — BSP
These faceless bills are a rare occurrence.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has owned up to a couple of misprints of the P100 bill which they discovered after it made the rounds on social media.
Despite the social media buzz, the central bank said there are only 33 of these misprinted notes out in circulation, which resulted from a printing machine error at the BSP’s end.
The central bank is offering to replace them at par value, although BSP Managing Director Carlyn Pangilinan admitted that they cannot stop those who got hold of the rare bills from keeping it as a collector’s item.
The BSP has recovered 19 faceless bills from the Bank of the Philippine Islands, leaving 14 loose.
Will they step up and get their money’s worth, or will they save it for collectors to feast on?
