DOF taps UP, UMak for Tax Academy
These state universities will be the key to this groundbreaking initiative.
The Department of Finance is eyeing to set up its planned Philippine Tax Academy (PTA) through the help of the University of the Philippines (UP) and the University of Makati (UMak) to have new programs in place by January 2018.
In a statement, the agency said UMak will house the PTA’s main campus, while a Executive Program certificate course will be offered at the UP School of Economics in Diliman, Quezon City.
The planned tax academy is seen to provide continuing education for employees of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Bureau of Customs, and the Bureau of Local Government Finance.
As a next step, the government is looking to partner with regional state universities in Visayas and Mindanao, starting with a PTA chapter in Cagayan de Oro City.
The government is seeking a financial grant from the United States to kickstart the PTA.
