Ayalas to expand Seda room inventory to 3,500 by 2019

Ayala Land Hotels and Resorts Corp., a subsidiary of property giant Ayala Land, is accelerating expansion plans in a bid to double its Seda hotel brand’s capacity by 2019 amid growing tourist arrivals.

ALHRC senior group general manager Andrea Mastellone said Seda aims to increase the current 1,409 rooms in seven locations to 15 hotels in two years.

Seda Lio in El Nido, Palawan is set to open in the first half with more branches planned in next two years in Circuit Makati, Arca South in Taguig, the Cebu Business Park, Ayala North Exchange in Makati, Bay Area, Paranaque, and the Cebu IT Park.

The group is also adding 342 rooms to Seda BGC in Taguig to meet the strong demand in the bustling commercial business district.

Seda currently has six other operating hotels located in Cagayan de Oro, Davao City, Nuvali in Laguna, Iloilo City, Quezon City and Bacolod City.

Mastellone cited studies by the Department of Tourism (DOT) indicating projected room gaps of 69,185 in Metro Manila, and 14,913 in Cebu-Mactan by 2022. (PNA)
