PLDT begins construction of Clark data center

Telco giant PLDT Inc. expects to launch by the third quarter its first purpose-built disaster recovery facility in Clark Freeport, Pampanga.

A project by subsidiary PLDT Clarktel, the 1,300-seat facility will allow enterprises in the Clark Economic Zone and neighboring communities to easily conform with global requirements and to comply with ISO 22301 or the Business Continuity Management System guidelines.

It is seen to complement the daily operations of the PLDT group’s existing data center in the region.

“To further strengthen our resiliency roadmap, we recognized the need for a robust disaster recovery facility, which in the long run would help propel the region’s economic growth by ensuring organizations under our care have the confidence to resume their operations with a more comprehensive approach to business continuity,” said Boy Castaneda, president of PLDT ClarkTel.

Aside from Clark, the PLDT group has data facilities in Subic, Pasig, Cebu, Sucat in Paranaque, Fort Bonifacio and Makati.
