David vs. Goliath: Megawide partners with SSS to take on the big boys

Construction and engineering firm Megawide Corp. and state-owned Social Security System (SSS) are joining forces to bid for the Ninoy Aquino International Airport redevelopment project.

Megawide partnered with SSS to level the playing field against the “super consortium” formed by seven of the country’s corporate giants which include Ayala, John Gokongwei’s JG Summit, Lucio Tan Group, Aboitiz, Andrew Tan’s Alliance Global Group, Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Metro Pacific Investments Corp., and Filinvest of the Gotianun family.

SSS and Megawide have formed a technical working group to craft their unsolicited proposal for the project.

Megawide bagged the contract to build a new terminal at the Clark International Airport, its second airport project after the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

It also recently won the design and build contract for the P2 billion water reclamation facility of Maynilad Water Services Inc.
