P6.4T infra projects under evaluation as “Build, Build, Build” goes full throttle
Golden age, indeed.
Nearly a 100 infrastructure projects are now being evaluated by the government as part of the Duterte administration’s ambitious goal of bringing back the “Golden Age of Infrastructure” in the country.
In an interview with Bilyonaryo, Finance Undersecretary and Chief Economist Gil Beltran said around 85 projects worth around P6.4 trillion are under evaluation. These projects consist of railways, expressways, airports, power plants, flood and water management, upgrading of existing facilities such as hospitals, among others.
Documents provided Bilyonaryo showed that included in these projects that are up for evaluation, and then will be bid out later, are the Mass Transit System Loop, LRT1 and LRT2 extensions, LRT4 in Ortigas to Taytay, Rizal, Mindanao Railway System, Cebu Railway Project, Makati Skytrain.
Also part of these projects would be the planned Clark Green City that aims to build a commercial and financial center, residential and industrial areas in Clark, Pampanga.
These projects are on top of the 60 that are now under construction worth around P2.3 trillion pesos.
The government is building more infrastructure facilities to continue to fuel the economic engines, provide jobs for Filipinos and lift millions from poverty. (JUN EBIAS)
