Enough is enough! Duterte cancels Miascor contract

The government has terminated the contract of Miascor Aviation Services following a luggage theft incident at the Clark International Airport in Pampanga involving six of the aviation service provider’s employees.

Manila International Airport Authority general manager Eddie Monreal said it shall no longer renew Miascor’s contract.

Monreal ordered Miascor to vacate the airport complex and its terminals within 60 days from the issuance of the letter.

The six Miascor officials were immediately terminated and are facing administrative charges for stealing an overseas Filipino worker’s luggage.

The termination of Miascor’s contract was upon instructions of President Duterte.

The country’s largest independent aviation ground service provider operates in key airports in Manila, Cebu, Davao, Clark and Kalibo. Miascor was organized in 1974 to provide airlines with a choice of a viable alternative ground handler.
