‘Third party’ causing trouble for Globe’s prepaid customers, netizen reveals
It’s not just in relationships where third parties are pesky.
A netizen has revealed what she branded as a scam perpetuated by Globe Telecom for its prepaid customers. Globe user Feanne Hontiveros Mauricio bared the scheme on Facebook, which she discovered after seeking answers for her disappearing cell phone load.
Mauricio confronted Globe staff to find out why her prepaid load had been vanishing despite minimal use for call, texts, and mobile data. The explanation given to her was that she was being charged P5 for every transaction involving “third parties” via her phone — something that she had no idea about.
“The photo attached shows the list they gave me of mysterious P5 transactions which they say are listed as ‘value-added services.’ This just lists the past few days, but it’s been going on for months, unfortunately I never tracked it before,” Mauricio said.
“Who are these ‘third parties’? And what ‘value’ are their ‘services’ providing me? Alas, nobody knows.”
She went on to say that Globe has apologized to her and gave her load credits to make up for those which she lost to these third-party charges, but the netizen won’t simply let it go and get cheated any longer.
“Not sure why Globe allows “third parties” to do this… except maybe because they get a cut out of every transaction so they aren’t incentivized to require “third parties” to be up front and transparent about these transactions,” Mauricio added.
