‘Selfie banking’ among the best achievements of UnionBank this 2017
It’s one of three milestones which made this bank executive proud.
The Union Bank of the Philippines had a solid run in 2017 as it booked an P8.4 billion net income, albeit lower than the P10.1 billion it made the previous year.
Still, bank president and chief executive officer Edwin Bautista felt like 2017 was a fresh banner year for UnionBank as they cleared three major accomplishments, largely by tapping digital enhancements to their financial services.
Bautista is particularly proud of the EON Digital Bank, which is the first with “selfie-banking feature in Asia.” Through the app, customers can set up prepaid debit cards and access them via face recognition, which does away with the need to remember passwords and PIN codes.
He is also equally proud of UnionBank’s mobile app and web versions with “enhanced” transactional capabilities as well as “The Ark” concept branch that offers fully-digital and paperless transactions to clients.
