Globe dishes out P3B cash dividends in Q1

Globe Telecom Inc. has declared cash dividends amounting to P3 billion or P22.75 per share.

The dividends will be distributed to shareholders in the first quarter.

Shareholders as of record of Feb. 20 are entitled to receive the dividends. Payment date is March 5.

The company declared dividends even if its net income declined last year. Revenues, however, rose 6 percent to P127.9 billion, driven by the solid growth in data-related products brought about by the increasing popularity of streaming and on-demand video content.

Mobile revenues increased 7 percent year-on-year to P98.5 billion in 2017 with data service expanding 23 percent to P43.1 billion as more Globe customers embraced the digital lifestyle.

Revenues from the home broadband business also went up 7 percent to P15.6 billion.
