BIR taps Kim Chiu, Kenneth Cobonpue to kick off 2018 tax year

These idols made the call for Pinoys to pay the right taxes.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) kicked off its 2018 tax campaign with a bang on Friday, Feb. 9 as it tapped an all-star lineup of celebrities to make their call ring.

The agency is pressed to collect P2.039 trillion in taxes this year, or roughly P5.5 billion per day. This comes on the back of the implementation of the tax reform law.

The BIR went all-out with its kick-off ceremony as it tapped icons like Kim Chiu and Jake Cuenca as well as singer Maricris Garcia for the occasion.

The idols serenaded invited officials and company executives from the Large Taxpayers Service, where bulk of the tax collections are drawn.

TV Host Luane Dy also served as emcee for the program at the Philippine International Convention Center, while singer Daryl Ong also entertained the crowd that afternoon.
