MVP donates P20M as seed capital for POC
Tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan is shelling out P20 million to help athletes prepare to compete at international level.
This was announced by newly-appointed Philippine Olympics Committee president Ricky Vargas following the POC elections held at the Wack Wack Country Club.
Vargas , who served as president of Maynilad Water Services Inc., is an ally of Pangilinan, one of the most well-known long-time supporters of Philippine sports.
As the new head of the POC, Vargas said he would go all out in helping athletes develop their skills and fitness to a high level and push for the country’s hosting of the Southeast Asian Games next year.
Pangilinan is urging corporations to help in whatever way they can to empower athletes and uplift Philippine sports.
“If you have proper management and governance in sports, the business community will come in and lend a hand,,” Pangilinan was earlier quoted by reporters.
