JAZA rings Makati stock exchange bell for the last time
The Ayala Corporation CEO and chairman waxes nostalgic on one of the oldest stock exchanges in Asia.
Ringing the bell for the very last time on the trading floor at Tower One is giving Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala all the feels.
The Philippine Stock Exchange, previously known as the Makati Stock Exchange, was established in 1927 in Binondo and was in the Makati Central Business District since 1963.
“Donated by Ayala Corporation, the MSE is an iconic building and one of the first to rise along Ayala Avenue. Donated by Ayala Corporation, the MSE is an iconic building and one of the first to rise along Ayala Avenue. The trading floor in Tower One has been the site of many milestones in PSE history: from being conferred self-regulatory organization (SRO) status, to listing its shares by way of introduction in 2003. The performance of the PSE has always been one of the bellwethers of the Philippine economy, where the PSEi has breached all-time high after all-time high. It has gained a reputation of excellence, receiving commendations for its corporate governance and named Best Stock Exchange multiple times. The PSE itself was created in 1992 from the merger of the Manila Stock Exchange and the Makati Stock Exchange,” his FB post read.
We’ll always remember Makati Stock Exchange’s glory days, sir JAZA!
