GSIS to require annual appearance for pensioners
The old rule is creeping back in.
The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) said it will restore the policy requiring the annual reporting of all pensioners.
In a statement, the pension fund for government workers said the Annual Pensioners Information Revalidation (APIR) will be revived. This means that all old-age and survivorship pensioners need to personally visit any GSIS office to continue enjoying benefits.
Another option is to use the GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System kiosk to activate their status.
Reactivation will be done between March 23 to June 30, 2018 for all pensioners aged 79 and below.
Exempted are those with permanent total disability, those above 80, and those with medical condition.
After the period, all pensioners need to revalidate their status during their birth month each year.
