Card out, phone in: Metrobank shows cardless withdrawal option

This will keep card skimmers away, but phone thieves could come and play instead.

Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. revealed that it is now offering an option for depositors to do cardless withdrawals through automated teller machines (ATM).

An account holder needs to have an updated version of Metrobank’s app on their phones, as well as mobile data connection. To avail of the service, one needs to log in on the app and key in details, in the process generating two number codes which will then be used on the ATM.

Instead of whipping out your card and inserting it in the machine, one only needs to key in two one-time-use codes to get money.
