National Bookstore’s Ramos family forays into education with NBS College
The clan behind the National Book Store chain is hoping to make a definitive mark in the education space with the opening of NBS College in Quezon City.
Located in the same building as NBS Quezon Avenue, the tertiary educational institution will offer degree programs such as BS Accountancy, BS Accounting Information System, BS Entrepreneurship, BS Computer Science, BS Library and Information Science and BS Tourism Management. Other courses to be offered in the near term include Business Administrationa Information Technology.
The launch of NBS College marked the 75th anniversary of NBS, the country’s biggest books and supplies chain.
“Guided by the 75 years of entrepreneurial excellence of National Book Store, NBS College equips our students with the skills and values they need to succeed in the rapidly-changing global field,” NBS College president Adrian Ramos said during the media launch.
Founded by Soccoro Ramos, NBS plans to double its store network to 500 while ramping up presence online to boost sales. It now has over 230 branches across the country.
NBS also owns Powerbooks, NBS Express, and Bestsellers.
