LGUs to blame for Boracay’s current mess — DILG

The dire case of Boracay can only be blamed on the local governments who did not do their job.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Assistant Secretary Epimaco Densing III said local government units (LGUs) in Aklan are responsible for the “cesspool” that is Boracay, which will soon be placed in a total shutdown effective April 26.

“That’s why the island is in crisis because there is failure of governance. There is a failure in governance in the island, and this is the reason why we have this kind of crisis in Boracay,” Densing said in an interview.

How will the towns respond to this?
