DOTr rejects Tieng-Sy group’s Sangley airport proposal
The Department of Transportation has thumbed down the unsolicited proposal of Solar Entertainment and Belle Corp. to build a $12 billion airport in Sangley Point, Cavite under a 50-year concession deal.
DOTr rejected it as it opted to bid out the operations and maintenance of airports under its jurisdiction, through a concession.
The regional airport hub proposed by the Solar-Belle Group was envisioned to accommodate about 120 million passengers annually.
Under the plan, about 2,500 hectares of land north of the Sangley peninsula will undergo reclamation which will be used for the development of airport infrastructure and a commercial establishment.
The plan also includes the development of airside and landside facilities and transportation infrastructure.
