Chelsea Logistics ink shipbuilding contracts with Japanese firm
Chelsea Logistics Holdings Corp. (CLC) signed shipbuilding contracts with Kegoya Dock Co. Ltd. for the construction of two brand-new RORO passenger ferry ships.
In a statement, CLC said the ferry ships would be built at Kegoya Dock’s shipyard at Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan and delivered to CLC in October 2019 and April 2020, respectively.
CLC has an option to have a third vessel constructed by Kegoya Dock.
Kegoya Dock is a highly-reputable Japan-based shipbuilding corporation engaged in building and repairing ships, barges, and lighters with principal office at Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan.
Riding on the present administration’s Build, Build, Build program, CLC plans to continuously upgrade its passenger and cargo fleet with the acquisition of brand new and younger vessels.
The new ships will be deployed to various new routes and under-served markets.
