PLDT opens second data center in Cebu
PLDT Inc. said it invested P1 billion for its second data center in Mandaue, Cebu.
“This new state-of-the-art facility is part of the PLDT Group’s nationwide effort to support local organizations and enterprises of all sizes — helping them store, manage and safeguard mission-critical data from cybersecurity threats and physical disasters,” said Eric R. Alberto,EVP and chief revenue officer at PLDT.
The newly-opened VITRO data center, PLDT’s 10th data center in the country, will serve the increased data and ICT needs of the city’s 10,000 industrial and commercial businesses. It is equipped with a maximum of 800 racks, adding to ePLDT’s 8,300 rack capacity.
Mandaue City produces 75 percent of the country’s total furniture exports and hosts Shemberg, the world’s top carrageenan supplier.
The VITRO network of data centers has established presence in key cities and locations across the Philippines namely Makati, Pasig, Clark, and most recently, Davao, the first in Mindanao.
