SMC pushes speedy action on Bulacan airport proposal
San Miguel Corp. said it remains on solid financial footing as it pushed for the immediate approval by the Office of the President of its planned P750 billion airport in Bulacan.
SMC president and COO Ramon S. Ang told reporters that a weaker peso would push up the development cost for the project
Despite this scenario, Ang said SMC remains committed and ready to fund the project, which already secured the greenlight from the National Economic Development Authority.
“San Miguel can and will build it even if its cost hits P800 billion,” Ang said, noting the company’s annual cashflow of P200 billion.
The proposed project will have six parallel runways and an initial capacity of 100 million passengers or over three times that of the congested Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
