Super consortium to bag original proponent status for NAIA upgrade
The mighty consortium which comprisea seven of the country’s biggest conglomerates, is set to obtain original proponent status for the rehabilitation and operation of the Ninoy Aquino Terminal Airport.
“We have recommended the issuance of original proponent status (OPS) to the 9NAIA consortium. We gave the recommendation to MIAA (Manila International Airport Authority) because they are the primary agency, not the DOTr,” Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade told reporters
MiAA general manager Ed Monreal confirmed that he received the endorsement letter from the Department of Transportation for the NAIA rehabilitation and O&M.
Monreal said the MIAA board would convene this Thursday to discuss the NAIA consortium’s proposal.
which involves expanding and interconnecting the existing terminals of Naia, upgrading airside facilities and developing commercial facilities to increase airline and airport efficiencies, and enhancing passenger comfort and experience.
