Tantocos to shake up PH fastfood market with Shake Shack
Soon you may no longer have to fly abroad to satisfy your craving for a Shake Shack burger.
The famous New York burger joint is making its debut in the Philippines in spring 2019, marking its first entry into Southeast Asia.
In a statement, Tantoco-led SSI Group said it has signed a licensing agreement with Shake Shack Inc., which is bent on further expanding its geographic footprint to spur faster growth.
Shake Shack is best known for its 100% all-‐natural Angus beef burgers, milk shakes, and crinkle-cut fries.
“Shake Shack is proud to partner with the SSI Group, known for its retail expertise and culture of hospitality, to bring Shake Shack to the Philippines,” said Michael Kark, VP of Global Licensing at Shake Shack.
“ We are excited to begin the search for our first site in Metro Manila and look forward to becoming part of this community,” he added.
SSI president Anton T. Huang, for his part, said: “It has been a mission of the SSI Group to provide complete lifestyle offerings through global partnerships that cater to the eclectic tastes of Filipino consumers. We are excited to bring Shake Shack, one of the world’s best burger joints, to Manila’s young and vibrant consumer scene.”
