Aboitiz Group, Dennis Uy renew bid to develop regional airports
The Cebu-based Aboitiz clan and Chelsea Logistics Holdings Corp. of Davao-raised businessman Dennis Uy separately submitted new unsolicited proposals to to build and operate provincial airports in Visayas and Mindanao.
Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo, Transportation undersecretary for aviation and airports, said the agency is now evaluating the proposals submitted for the development of the New Bohol (Panglao) International Airport and Davao International Airport.
The DOTr earlier rejected the proposals of Aboitiz InfraCapital and Chelsea due to a change in policy direction.
Aboitiz InfraCapital earlier submitted a proposal to operate, maintain and expand the Iloilo International Airport, Bacolod-Silay Airport, Laguindingan Airport and New Bohol International Airport (Panglao).
Chelsea, on the other hand, offered to redevelop and expand the Davao International Airport and the New Bohol International Airport.
The Regional Airport PPP Projects were originally approved under a bundled PPP structure by the Investment Coordination Committee and the National Economic and Development Authority board.
However, the National Economic Development Authority approved the unbundling of the five airport projects in November 20
