Foreign investor group to buy into PLDT’s Voyager
An unnamed foreign investor group is acquiring majority control of Voyager Innovations Inc., the financial technology arm of telco giant PLDT Inc.
PLDT chairman and president Manuel V. Pangilinan said they entered into a non-binding agreement with the foreign investor for the sale of a majority stake in Voyager.
The sale is expected to be consummated in the next four weeks.
“These are private equity investors and investors that are in the same business as Voyager,” he said.
The partial sale of Voyager is also seen to improve its
financial position. Voyager incurred a P1.3 billion net loss.
Apart from this, PLDT invested between P9-P10 billion in Voyager, which focuses on digital customer engagement, digital marketing solutions, digital financial services and e-commerce platforms, as well as incubation of other new technologies.
