Customs raids Chinese-run factory of fake cigarettes in Gapan
These foreigners were up to no good.
The Bureau of Customs said they have arrested 17 Chinese national caught in the act of assembling counterfeit cigarettes inside a factory in Gapan, Nueva Ecija.
The bust was made on Friday, Aug. 17 where they were rounded up after a three-week surveillance.
The warehouse was filled with P200 million worth of gake cigarettes of assorted brands, as well as six cigarette-making machines, cigarette raw materials, and fake Bureau of Internal Revenue tax stamps.
This comes after the tax reform law introduced higher taxes on these sin products.
