MVP Group partners with EGIS for toll collection system
A wholly-owned unit of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. has tapped Egis Projects Philippines Inc. (EPPI) to install an electronic toll collection system at the Cavite Laguna Expressway (CALAEX).
CALAEX is a P34.5 billion expressway which will start from Cavitex in Kawit, Cavite and end at the SLEx-Mamplasan Interchange in Binan, Laguna.
MPCala Holdings Inc. CEO Luigi L. Bautista said the toll collection system is a first of its kind in the Philippines which can accommodate 1,200 vehicles per hour.
“It is a big jump from the existing RFID transactions of 700 – 800 vehicles per hour. Our objective in using this new system is for our motorists to experience seamless, fast and reliable cashless transactions, making them spend less time on the road and more time with their families,” Bautista said.
One of the advanced features of the system is the automatic license plate recognition solution technology which will help motorists experience uninterrupted and faster toll transactions.
This is set to be installed in phases as each section of CALAEX is completed and become passable to the motorists, while CAVITEX will be upgrading its existing ETC system.
CAVITEX is part of the road network being expanded by MPTC. It is currently constructing the 7.7 kilometer C5 South-Link which will traverse Taguig, Las Piñas, Parañaque.
