Monthly money ranking: Villar, RSA, Danding climb the charts in awful August

10 of the richest 13 Filipinos lost a big chunk of their wealth over the last 30 days as August proved yet again to be bad luck for bilyonaryos.

Based on the real time ranking of Forbes.com, the 13 Filipinos on the radar had a combined net worth of $53.8 billion as of end-August, down by 5 percent from $55.3 billion in July.

Henry Sy is still top of the rankings with $18.6 billion but this is down by 7.5 percent from the previous month.

Only three bilyonaryos bucked the ghost month curse as they chalked up impressive gains.

Retired politiko Manny Villar climbed up five places to number two with a net worth of $5 billion, up a dizzying 67 percent from July.

San Miguel’s bosses also saw their bank deposits fatten during the period – Ramon S. Ang rose from No. 9 to No. 7 with $2.9 billion, up 16 percent; and Danding Cojuangco with $1.3 billion, up 8 percent.

Here’s how the bilyonaryo ranking looks as of end August 2018:
