The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) is speeding up government procurement by doing its own take on online marketplaces like Lazada and Shopee.

The DBM via Procurement Service-Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PS-PhilGEPS) will roll out a Virtual Store for all government agencies nationwide statting October 2018.

It will be an online portal for purchases of common-use supplies and equipment, chargeable to an agency’s e-wallet.

“Delivery will be made within three days for agencies within Metro Manila, but goods can also be picked up from the nearest depot,” the DBM said.

A pilot run was done on Sept. 10, with full operations expected by June 2019.

“Government agencies, as well as suppliers, contractors, manufacturers, distributors and consultants, are mandated to register and use the system in the conduct of procurement of goods, civil works and consulting services,” the DBM added.
