HSBC names Kiwi exec as new CEO for Manila
This global bank found a new head for its Philippine operations.
Banking giant HSBC Philippines announced on Monday, Oct. 15 that they have found a replacement for outgoing president and chief executive officer Jose Arnulfo “Wick” Veloso.
HSBC said Graham FitzGerald, who is currently senior executive of their International unit, will be replacing Veloso.
FitzGerald, who hails from New Zealand, has been with the bank since 2004 at its headquarters in the United Kingdom.
“Graham’s international banking experience and strong client relationship management expertise
will be invaluable as he leads one of our growing markets in Asia. The Philippines is a key country for us, important as part of the Group’s much valued international network and for its place within the ASEAN bloc, which has a combined GDP of US$2.8 trillion and a population of 650m”, Peter Wong, HSBC Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive for Asia Pacific, said in a statement.
Veloso will be moving as president and CEO of bilyonaryo Lucio Tan’s Philippine National Bank.
