Miguel Ongpin’s remedies to cure homesickness

Homesickness is quite natural and happens to everyone. But it doesnt have to last long.

The food entrepreneur nephew of bilyonaryo Roberto V. Ongpin shared how we could fill this empty feeling inside.

Miguel Ongpin gave us his list of truly Filipino products that instantly cure homesickness.

His food essentials include Ligo sardines, barquillos and dried mangoes and white flower and tiger balm as weapons against winter colds.

“The Things I Carried-To The United States. As I Write This; I Have 2 Friends Who More Or Less Recently Movedkm From Manila To Texas. I Speculate From Their Posts That They Are A Bit Homesick And Have Tendencies To Purchase Things Over There From The Far East In Acts Of Psychological Overcompensation. 30 Years Ago I Had Not Anticipated I Would Be Homesick. However; Winters In New England Proved To Be Physically And Psychologically Difficult. Also; While There Was Chinese Food…It Was Often NOT The Yummy Hokkien And Cantonese That We Are Used To, But In My Case Szechuan And Hunan.
Hilariously, The Gina Mango Nectar AND LIGO Sardines Were Stolen From Me In My Dorm On More Than A Couple Occasions. The Nim Jiom Pei Pa Koa Cough Syrup, Tiger Balm, And White Flower Oil Were KEY For Winter Ailments. The Barquillos Were For Use With American Ice Cream.

All Of These Added Needed Warmth And Sunshine From Home During The Darkest Winters Of My Then Discontent. :),” said @miguelongpin.
