ABS-CBN in peril: Duterte vows to personally block franchise renewal

Time is running out for bilyonaryo Gabby Lopez and his expiring ABS-CBN franchise.

President Rodrigo Duterte declared he would personally make sure that Congress would not extend the franchise of the country’s largest media group which would expire in 2020.

“Hindi ko kayo palusutin. ‘Yung franchise ninyo matatapos…Ako talagang mag-object na ma-renew kayo,” said Duterte in an expletive-filled rant against Lopez.

Duterte still hasn’t gotten over the ABS-CBN’s decision to air an adverse campaign ad against him paid by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and not to air his reply against the negative ad. Worse, Duterte said Lopez has not refunded the money he paid for airtime during the campaign.

“Ikaw, Gabby. Inuna mo pa ‘yung advertisement ni Trillanes. Pinaniraan ako ng mga bata. ‘Ay si Duterte killer’. Sa batas there was an injunction na hindi pwede ‘yan kasi bawal gamitin mo ang bata. And yet pumunta talaga kayo, went ahead with the show and made it public. ‘Yung two million ko nakulgot hanggang ngayon nasa inyo pa. Now tell
me kung bakit hindi ako magalit sa inyo,” he said.

“Magnanakaw kayo. Estapador. Ginawa ninyo sa amin, marami kami. Kaya before you answer ‘yang mga commentators ninyo, kindly review the records sa network ninyo. Mukha kayong pera lahat. Mga putang ina ninyo. ‘Yan ang totoo,” added Duterte.
