Filipino hospitality group Discovery Leisure Co. Inc. of the Tiu family is looking at developing a property in Siargao Island, which is known as the surfing capital of the Philippines.
BusinessWorld reported that Discovery Leisure hopes to develop the Siargao property into a mixed-use complex in three to four years as waits for the market to mature and grow over time.
?We?re waiting for more direct flights other than SkyJet, ? company COO Jun Parreno said in an interview with BusinessWorld.
The proposed project will include a hotel and a residential apartment.
Parreno expects Siargao to attract more tourists with the expected completion of the new wing of the Mactan International Airport in June next year.
The group behind Discovery Suites and Discovery Shores is developing two new properties in El Nido, Palawan and Benguet to take advantage of the country?s tourism growth.
