PayMaya Philippines Inc. is eyeing to further expand its QR code-enabled mobile payments to food and transport sectors by next year.
?The target for us is to get in the daily use cases of people and people usually buy food on a daily basis. For us its mostly on food that we are gonna focusing on and transport. So, to us its not really going for banner merchants that are high names, its to get the daily lives of the people and to make sure that every single day I can pay with my Paymaya for food, transport, utilities etc., ? said PayMaya COO and managing director Paolo Azzola.
Azzola said the company is looking at deploying cashless payments via PayMaya QR to public utility vehicles such as buses and taxis.
At present, PayMaya has more than eight million active users.
PayMaya recently partnered with Robinsons Galleria and SM malls to deploy cashless payments technology through QR code technology.
PayMaya?s QR-based payment technology is also available in establishments such as Smart Stores, in communities starting with canteens, in partner schools like STI and commercial establishments in cashless cities such as Muntinlupa and Malabon, and in popular merchants within SmartSpots already enabled by WiFi connectivity in key cities such as Baguio, Cebu, and Davao.
