MVP Group to spend P2B to expand Subic-Tipo Expressway
NLEX Corp. is is expanding the Subic Freeport Expressway (SFEX) to connect the provinces of Zambales and Bataan.
Company president Rodrigo Franco said the SFEX would be expanded from 1×1 lane to 2×2 lanes in each direction to double the capacity of the expressway.
Construction of the project will start before the end of the year Franco and is targeted for completion by the third quarter of 2019.
The SFEx, which was constructed in time for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting in Subic in 1996, forms part of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway.
NLEX holds the concession to manage, operate and maintain the SCTEx, a 93.77-km four-lane highway which traverses the provinces of Bataan, Pampanga and Tarlac.
The 95-kilometer North Luzon Expressway serves an average of 237,046 a day. It is the main infrastructure backbone that connects Metro Manila to Central and Northern Luzon.
