House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has neither confirmed nor denied rumors that she will replace Carlos ?Sonny? Dominguez as Finance Secretary next year.
Arroyo merely laughed off the question about her supposed Cabinet appointment in an interview with reporters at the House of Representatives Tuesday.
?It?s so hypothetical,? she said.
Pressed on what she would do if the position were offered to her, Arroyo reiterated: ?It?s so hypothetical.?
The former President, who is on her third and final term as a congresswoman of Pampanga, did not file a certificate of candidacy for any position for next year?s elections.
President Rodrigo Duterte has been vocal about his admiration for Arroyo, a US-trained economist whose policy decisions have been credited for the economic growth that lasted until the term of her successor, former President Benigno Aquino III.
?There is a new Speaker and it?s good because she is an economist. She was the one who called me about two weeks ago to do something about the inflation,? the President said last July, after Arroyo replaced Davao Del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez as Speaker.
Arroyo has been hands-on in the passage of the tax reform measures sought by the administration.
