Globe Telecom Inc. saw a 44 percent jump in its first.quarter earnings to P6.7 billion, fueled by its mobile data and broadband businesses.
Consolidated service revenues rose 13% to P36 billion,, largely driven by sustained increase in all data-related services and products coupled with the wide array of content offerings through the company’s partnerships with global content providers.
Mobile revenues amounted to nearly P27 billion, 11 percent higher than the previous year.
Rwvenues from mobile data revenues reached P16.5. billion on higher consumer spending owing to the regrowing popularity of promos that provide the best surfing deals.
“For 2019, we are confident in our ability to maintain this strong growth momentum with the aggressive investments in the network, coupled with the evolving lifestyle bundles that aim to strongly influence the digital life of Filipinos,” said Ernest L. Cu, president and COO of Globe.
Meanwhile, revenues from mobile voice and SMS declined to P6.3 billion and P4.2 billion, respectively.
Globe ended the first quarter with total mobile subscribers of 83.5 million,.
As for the home broadband business, revenues grew 21 percent.
