San Miguel Corp. doesn’t want a repeat of the Metro Manila water crisis.
SMC president Ramon Ang said they would submit in the next two weeks an unsolicited proposal to build a new water source from an unindentified location.
Ang said the planned project, estimated to cost around P35 billion, would be able to supply 3,800 million liters of water per day when completed. Construction could take five years, he said.
SMC earlier offered its untapped water allocation from the Angat dam to help address the supply shortage experienced by over six million people in the east zone of Metro Manila.
Ang said the company wants to contribute to government’s efforts to develop new water sources.
