Third telco DITO taps ABS-CBN for fiber optic network

The Lopez Group seems to have carefully mapped out its business continuity plan.

Its broadcasting unit ABS-CBN has been entering into strategic partnerships with companies engaged in other industries to ensure its survival should it fail to get its legislative franchise renewed.

ABS-CBN’s license is set to expire on March 20, 2020.

Subsidiary SkyCable just signed an agreement, allowing third telco player DITO Telecommunity to use its unused fiber-optic cables within Metro Manila.

ABS-CBN earlier partnered with Ever Bilena to launch a new cosmetics brand as it part of efforts to duversify its revenue sources.

It also formed a joint venture with IBayad Online Ventures Inc for a customer and merchant e-wallet or e-money service.
