BGC buses, Cebu’s Topline Express Ferries accept QR code payments starting today

The QR code payment system is officially available for use by passengers on board the Metro Manila-based BGC Bus and Cebu-based Topline Express Ferries.

AF Systems Inc., the consortium of Metro Pacific Corp. and Ayala Corp., has implemented the first QR code transport ticketing system in the Philippines.

“This is a new era in transport ticketing. It’s a smart solution where both operators and commuters enjoy the efficiency and ease of use associated with QR technology,” said Joey Lim, chairman of AF Payments.

To accelerate the growth of QR ticketing, AF Payments president Rene Almendras said they are opening this system to other transport operators, payments companies and developers.

The new system will replace manually validated paper ticketing to ensure quicker validation and a hassle-free commuter experience.
