Global courier FedEx is seeking a comeback in the Philippine market 10 years after pulling out its operations.
News reports quoted Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez as saying that Fedex was looking at Clark Freeport in Pampanga as site for its planned hub.
FedEx used to operate in Subic Bay in the 1990s and officially moved to Guangzhou in 2009.
“Our planned operations in Clark will enable us to better serve our customers in the Philippines and are part of our ongoing expansion throughout the Asia Pacific region as our business continues to grow,” FedEx said in a statement.
FedEx, however, said its Asia Pacific hub, which is located in China, would stay as it remains committed to its customers and employees in both China and the Philippines.
The courier said it would continue to consider opportunities and make strategic investments to expand our service, enhance its network and provide greater global connectivity.
