BCDA gives Aetas a week to vacate New Clark City

The remaining Aeta communities near the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac have been given a week to haul away all of their stuff and move out of the compound now owned by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).

The notice was supposedly sent on Nov. 29, a day before the opening of the 30th Southeast Asian Games, which features Filipino ethnic and modern dances.

”The PH government bannered indigenous culture at the #SEAGames2019 opening ceremony last Nov. 30. But just the day before, the BCDA issued an eviction letter to Aeta communities in Capas, Tarlac, giving them seven days to evacuate ’for the greater good.‘ The notice was received on December 2,” said a group named Sandugo.

“Ayon po sa mga ginawang pakikipanayam ng mga kawani ng BCDA sa inyong lugar, ang lupain na inyong tinitirahan o sinasaka ay nakatakda nang gamitin sa lalong madaling panahon upang ipatupad ang isang proyekto ng gobyerno na para sa higit na pangkalahatang kapakanan at pagpapaunlad ng ating bayan — ang New Clark City,” the notice said.
