This network would do whatever it could to avert paying less than a million peso fine.
GMA Network said it has contested the P890,000 penalty slapped by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for its supposed lapses that led to Eddie Garcia’s eventual death after tripping on the set for a TV series.
The Felipe Gozon-led network together with its production partners were imposed the penalty for three violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Law.
“The network has received the copy of the order dated Dec. 2, 2019 issued by the regional director of DOLE National Capital Regional Office. In response, the network submitted an appeal with the Secretary of Labor within the allowed period seeking to annul and reverse the said order,” the network said in a statement.
“GMA will proceed with the necessary steps as soon as the DOLE resolves its appeal.”
