For the new motorcycle hailing app that is out to compete head on with Angkas, it was just a lucky coincidence that one of its executives had ties with President Duterte’s political party.
JoyRide has made quite a stir after making the cut in the extended pilot implementation of motorcycle taxis in Metro Manila. It was also rumored to be owned by Sen. Bong Go.
Edwin Dayrit Rodriguez , secretary general of PDP-Laban Quezon City chapter, is coincidentally the business development officer at JoyRide.
Rodriguez, however, vehemently denied using political strings to get the government’s greenlight to operate.
“Walang kinalaman ang PDP-Laban dito,” Rodriguez said.

JoyRide officials earlier admitted seeking help from PDP president Sen. Koko Pimentel to endorse them to the Department of Transportation — an effort which likely paid off, as they got the second spot in the motorcycle taxi service.
