President Rodrigo Duterte is fed up with the arrogance of bilyonaryo Isidro Consunji and his efforts to weasel out of compensating the owners of the quake-damaged Ecoland condominium built by his company, DMCI Homes.
Duterte said he was bothered by a report that Consunji was acting haughtily when he met with representatives of the owners of Ecolandcondominium which collpased duing the 6.5 magnitude earthquake in Davao City last October.
“You were most arrogant do not do that. You will not only lose your funds but also your business, believe me. I have ordered an audit of all your buildings and violations you have committed,” Said Duterte in an interview with ABS-CBN’s Ted Failon.
“You know, if you do not come to terms with the people that you have prejudiced, will not allow you to even construct a building, not even a post,” he added.
Consunji had previously claimed that government, and not the private firms, should be held responsible for inserting the onerous provisions in Maynilad’s water contract. Consunji is a partner of Salim group of Indonesia which bought out the Lopez group in Maynliad. Consunji warned that Duterte’s attack on Maynilad and Manila Water has created “uncertainty” and adversely affected investor sentiment.
