President Rodrigo Duterte has tapped another military man to fill up a juicy government post.
Duterte announced the appointment of outgoing Philippine Air Force (PAF) chief Lieutenant General Rozzano Briguez as the new head of the Philippine National Oil Company Exploration Corporation (PNOC-EC) during the latter’s turnover of common ceremony Thursday night.
“Now is a good as any other time to tell you that from here, he will be heading an office – a critical one. I fired the – for corruption, pinalitan ko (I replaced him) and he’s going to head the exploration division of the Philippine National Oil Company,” Duterte said in his speech.
Duterte was referring to former PNOC-EC chief executive officer Pedro Aquino Jr who was fired in October due to “loss of confidence” after entering into a deal with the Russians
“Lahat naman kayo may naghihintay. All that I ask is honesty. Period,” he said.
Duterte praised Briguez for “a job well done” as head of the Philippine Air Force. “We thank you for your trailblazing leadership that further enabled the PAF to fulfill its vital role in our whole-of-nation approach towards achieving security and inclusive development of our country,” Duterte said.
